Let me tell you a bit about myself before I really start, I'm 46, married and I care for my wife, it's supposed to be a job, but at 140 hours, for about £250 a month that's £1.78 an hour, for that I am not classed as unemployed. I work for the government as one of their army of carers.
It all started in 2009 after I'd done a NVQ 2 in computer maintenance and a NVQ 3 in ICT support, amongst other IT related qualifications in between the two. Before that, I worked in various shops, such as Marks and Spencers and Sunglass Hut, amongst others, as well as running my own business, to shelf stacking and doing all the other jobs in between, so you'd think my chances of getting work is quite high, but sadly you're wrong.
I'm wandering off the subject, but it's all relavant to everything I was writing about in the begining, in 2009, I was applying for approximately 40 jobs a day, that's about 280 jobs a week and that's about 14500 jobs a year, but out of all those applications I had maybe 100 interviews, that isn't 1%.I've had that many Job Brokers, I've lost count, all say "I'll find you a job, leave it to me" stuff like that, then end up doing absoluptly nothing. One could've been Frank Carsons long lost twin brother, all i did with him was sit in front of a computer looking at the Jobcentreplus website, saying oooooooo, look at that, "I'll print the details off so you can apply at home". So now I do everything from home as personally, being a Job Broker is like money for nothing, these people are lucky to have a job.
I'm wondering if it's just me, or are there any other 40 ish year olds who are in the same position as me.............
2010 went by, I'd applied for about 4 jobs a day, nothing serious, but now back to 2011, I am appling for about 100 jobs a week still no joy, I'm thinking will I get a job ever.
